“Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world every day because they share a core belief – to serve their community. The Buckhorn District Lions Club organizes many local events supporting many causes within the Buckhorn community and is a leader in facilitating the start-up of this local youth soccer program. With the help of Lions Club leaders at the time, Allister Young, Janet Clarkson and Sally Look Yan, introductions were made to various community leaders to see what the interest would be in starting a local youth soccer program. Focus groups and surveys were conducted and there was a very positive response to the possibility of providing local youth programming, with soccer being the #1 activity requested with the kindergarten to grade 6 demographic.
As the Buckhorn Soccer Development Programs primary sponsor, through the Lions Club dedicated commitment, and generous support our local soccer program was born. Our inaugural kickoff was celebrated in June of 2024.”
